The Joy of a Garden

I have been thoroughly immersed in the garden out in East Hampton trying to plant all the vegetables my Dad purchased this year before he passed away. It seems so cruel that he would miss out on the beauty of his Spring/Summer/Fall garden that everyone stops and admires. Yesterday I planted red pontiac potatoes, snap peas, lincoln peas, maestro peas, bush beans, lettuce and oregano to join the couple of tomato plants already planted. The cucumbers, beets, basil, dill, honeydew and watermelon will have to wait until next week. We have been eating fresh asparagus almost every day and our rhubarb is well on its way. We have about 13 blueberry bushes, and added a seedless red grape bush this year which is leafing beautifully. There is something so therapeutic about working with the earth and sifting out all those weeds. It is especially therapeutic when the weeds are all gone. We, of course, use no chemicals on our plantings. Our blue, yellow and peach irises are open and beautiful and I am waiting for the peonies and oriental poppies to open any day. Well back to Eco Art Handbags!!

Artist Bio: Shirley Novak

Eco Art Productions is adding additional artists who will be featured on our handbags. Shirley Novak is one of the artists who will appear on our bags this spring. We are excited to showcase her captivating artwork.

A creative spirit, the love of color and a need to grow flowers are the fundamental impulses leading Shirley on a clear path to her garden paintings. Shirley finds the color, graceful and playful stems, buds and seed pods of poppy plants endlessly inspiring and useful design elements.

With her work Shirley hopes to convey the emotions she experiences in the process of growing and painting gardens; love, joy, vitality, gratitude, peace and renewal. Every season Shirley’s garden brings optimism, inspiration and new ideas for her paintings.

Today she lives in Colorado and has designed and created an extensive garden of poppies, peonies, roses, foxgloves and hollyhocks. Shirley’s work can be found in fine art galleries across the country and her prints are recognized globally.

We are thrilled to be featuring Shirley's work. Please go to our website to learn more about Shirley, and other artists partnering with Eco Art Productions.
